Vatnajökull National Park. We have just enough time for a hike to Svartifoss.
On the trail, this redwing didn't seem bothered until we got pretty close

Climbing the hill towards Hundafoss, we look southeast to the coast
Nicely marked trails. Makes you want to go for another hike!
Here we are at Hundafoss...
Hundafoss
Nice trail leads across the top of Hundafoss.
Narrow stone building set high up on the hillside.
Flat stone construction with an occasional round stone for visual interest.
It is in a nice meadow area, so I can see why it could be a good spot. Near water from the falls.

We get our first peek of Svartifoss, in a basalt canyon.
Svartifoss, trails across and above it.
Columns of basalt have been undermined by the action of the water, I guess.
