Somebody else was here not too long ago!
The flag looks a little beat up
Peggy had me take a photo of the flag for her.
We pulled off Rt 93 to Seydisfjordur and found the small waterfall Gufufoss in the rear view mirror!
Getting some photos of Gufufoss
Gufufoss from stream level.
Gufufoss mist and drips
The mountain over Gufufoss blends with the incoming clouds.
Rt 93 going east, the view we saw from our rearview mirror.
Fjarðará, the little lake in Seydisfjordur.
The church in Seydisfjordur
We came in on the same day as the ferry from Denmark. There was a snowstorm coming in that night.
Parked at Hotel Hótel Snæfell to get our bearings
Going east on Strandurvegur from Seydisfjordur we have a view of Brimnes peninsula to the north.
A great bit of mural painting.
Didn't think to zoom in and get a photo of just the bird! Distracted by the scenery.
Where does the arrow point to?
Maybe to this abandoned dock.
Quite a nice house, I wonder what the story behind it is...
Good spot to park cars or farm machinery next to the road.
A convenient shed for a boat as well.
The sign reads "Breeding Ground."
View of Brimnes peninsula through the shed.
Mountains to the west of Seydisfjordur, storm coming in.
Peggy lookng at the old dock
A bit of rock stacking was done here.
Action photos!
I was too far away for Peggy to tell me to stop taking photos of her! :)
Further to the east of Seydisfjordur.
The Brimnes lighthouse at the foot of the peninsula.
Telephoto view of the Brmnes lighthouse. I would love to get over there!
We are a bit higher now, getting a slight downward view of the lighthouse. Still using the 28-300mm.
Reindeer!
Reindeer in motion. Switched to the 300mm f2.8 + TC-17.
The reindeer withdrew to the slope below us.
Plenty of reindeer grazing just under the ridge.
OK, I just like photos of lighthouses.
Further along the peninsula, now to the east of the lighthouse.
As far east as we could get on the road, another view of the lighthouse.
If the road had been open, we would have to cross this stream to keep going to the east.
Gull standing primly.
Somebody left a digger out over the winter.
We took a few photos of it.
It is a JCB.
The digger's arm echoes the Brimnes peninsula.
Brimnes and JCB
Back to the east the peninsula looks like a cruise ship.
A bit of a fixer-upper, but great views.
Back in Seydisfjordur, still rather quiet at the ferry.
The peninsula towering over Seydisfjordur and the lake.
Our room at Hotel Snæfell. Old building, but wonderful bright LED lights overhead!
Our little private bath. Plenty of hot water which stayed in the shower! A good thing.
The ferry looks very inviting. Another thing to try next time.
More buses arriving for the ferry.
