A short walk to the Hungarian National Museum, Magyar Nemzeti Múzeum
The pigeons here look the same as in the United States.
Going up the main central staircase.
Quite a grand building!
The inside of the central dome. The sunlight looks like an alien's face!
Not strictly an exhibit, but I like the color of the phone.
Grand costumes from the age of empire
Sort of looks like something from the movie Men In Black...
These coins caught my eye. I haven't seen a square design on a coin in a long time.
A lovely period sitting room. Note the spitoon against the wall near the plug.
A bit of a grand inkstand. Having something like this to sit down to would make writing a pleasure!
Nicely done display of more modern life in Hungary.
A lovely office. I wish my desk was this tidy.
I believe this translates to "I believe in Hungarian resurrection." A properly hopeful slogan!
Stepping out of the museum, I spot a patriotic pole.
Details of the columns lining the portico of the National Hungarian Museum. Corinthian, I think.
Looking west on Vámház körút, through Szabadság híd as we head to the Central Market Hall for lunch.
Many brightly colored things at the Central Market Hall, Nagy Vásárcsarnok.
We couldn't find a place we wanted to eat at in the Nagy Vásárcsarnok, so we went north...
Where we found the Borbíróság, and had an excellent meal at a beautiful table.
It helped that we were eating between the lunch and dinner crowds.
Pretty clear that black dogs are not welcome here.
Just liked the sign which translates to Brasserie. We will have to eat there the next time!
Happy people in the Hall Square, Csarnok téri. They could be in a commercial or a TV show...
And we came upon a film crew shooting a scene outside the Corvinus University of Budapest.
On Vámház körút, again looking through Szabadság híd to the West.
On Vámház körút, looking through Szabadság híd to the West.
Going to take the 2 Tram north to the Shoes on the Danube Bank. Standard wide angle view...
Superwide angle view of the 2 Tram. Much more interesting!

Mátyás Templom, Matthias Church in silhouette. (I could have recovered the shadow detail in the original RAW file, but felt it was a more powerful photo as a silhouette.)
Twilight on the Danube. Buda Castle and the Széchenyi Chain Bridge starting to light up.
Fisherman's Bastion and Mátyás Templom now lit up.
Tower lights of the Széchenyi Chain Bridge now on.
Buda Castle and Széchenyi Chain Bridge, twilight fading.

Peggy getting some twilight photos of Buda Castle and Széchenyi Chain Bridge.
Many boats taking advantage of the beautiful blue hour views.
Fisherman's Bastion and Mátyás Templom glowing in the twilight. What a fantastic city at night!
Buda Castle and Széchenyi Chain Bridge, classic blue hour views.

Walking back to the hotel, we peek inside the building being renovated as the Budapest Galeria
Looking very desolate inside, looking east.
This will be the main entrance, looking south.
Walked down to the Auguszt Cukrászda, a dessert restaurant, but the wyere closed, alas!
Auguszt Cukrászda closing up. We will have to come back the next time we visit!
