Went for a guided nature hike west of the basin
Beautiful morning walking in the forest
After climbing a bit we have a great view of Yellowstone Lake
More views of Yellowstone Lake
Looking to the south, lots of haze from the forest fires
At the top, photography happening
Walking to the east, back towards the lake
On the West Thumb Geyser Basin boardwalk
Strolling counterclockwise, along the south edge of the basin
Coming upon the Thumb Paint Pots
Different colors of mud in the Thumb Paint Pots
Thumb Paint Pots, bubbling away.
Pretty view of Yellowstone Lake over the Thumb Paint Pots
Seismograph Pool
Bluebell Pool flowing into Seismograph Pool
Particularly photogenic view of Bluebell and Seismograph Pools
Bluebell Pool flowing into Seismograph Pool
Walking east along Lakeside Spring
Getting steamed by Lakeshore Geyser
Lakeshore Geyser, appropriately named.
The famous Fishing Cone is next.
Fishing Cone, not so exciting at a medium distance...
Bird picking up things along the lake
A pretty bold bird!
Ladybug on the post next to the phone. Wish I had seen it while taking the photo!
This is a crop from a wide angle shot, lots of data available in a 36 MP image! Taken along Yellowstone Lake, West Thumb Geyser Basin
Lined up to get some shelter from the wind?
Clearly the wind tends to blow in one direction.
Looking west towards Black Pool
Standard wide angle shot looking west towards Black Pool
Superwide view of the outflow from Black Pool
Black Pool attracted a fair number of photographers, including me!
Attractive dead trees to the north of Black Pool
The stumps in the foreground sort of look like tourists...
Black Pool, looking east towards Yellowstone Lake
Quieter Abyss Pool to the north had its own fan club.
Abyss Pool, looks peaceful.
Contemplating on wide angle shots...
Strolling back to the parking lot, scattered dead and preserved trees.
A collection of small springs without identifiable names along the west side of the basin.
