Setting off towards Buda, we come to the Central Market Hall before getting to Liberty Bridge.
Plenty of bikes available.
Admiring the river boats getting loaded. A rather chilly, windy day, but people were out on deck.
Braving the wind on deck, waiting to sail up the Danube.
Gellért Hill Cave Church ahead, built into Gellert Hill. Liberty Statue above and to the northwest.
Statue of Szent Istvan Kiraly, King Saint Stephen of Hungary. Every photographer has this image!
Entrance to the Cave Church. Relatively modern construction, started in the 1920s.
Quite busy at the entry. We bought several small souvenirs.
After watching a short video one level up from the entry, we go into the main rooms above that.
Several different areas for seating in what would be the nave.
Different shrines set apart by stone columns.
Main part of the nave, with shrines at the ends of the side rooms.
The far end of the nave, which opens out towards the Danube.
Small shrines strategically placed with lights to brighten up the space.
Main altar, Cave Church, Budapest, Hungary.
Moving out into the classroom area.
More typical space inside a building right against the side of the hill.
Plenty of space for classes.
A bit of a treasury, with plaques on display.
Just one room of metal bits on display.
Pretty impressive carving in the classroom.
Heading back out through the nave of the church, another altar in the back of the seating area.
The fierce visage of Saint Stephen watching over us.
Overview of the nave.
Looking out over Liberty Bridge at the entrance to Cave Church.
A friendly needlepoint artist poses for us with her wares.
She is clearly quite good.
We did buy several items from her!
Nearby giant slide playground on the south side of Gellért Hill
Visiting Danubius Hotel Gellért to see what the pool looks like.
Danubius Hotel Gellért, Budapest, Hungary
Rather attractive cafe inside.

Walking east on Freedom Bridge towards Pest. Elizabeth Bridge to the north.
The support beams on the Liberty Bridge provide nice spots to take in the view.
Many people taking a break on the Liberty Bridge, looking north on the Danube.
