Heading out to Nashville on a Southwest flight. Plenty of morning activity in Las Vegas .
Looking west at the nearby tails and the mountains.
Yet another Southwest jet arrives, looking sharp.
Even more tails on display
On board, I get a window seat. A very clear morning with still air. Great for photos and flying.
Many people working hard to get us to where we want to be.
Upward sweep of winglets and vertical stabilizer and the Southwest paint scheme. Very harmonious.
Upward sweep of winglets and vertical stabilizer and the Southwest paint scheme. Very harmonious.
I am actually looking a bit to the South.
And looking more west. Sort of modern art here. bubbles and text superimposed.
Another interesting juxtaposition of shapes and colors.
The emergency exit directions on the wing root outside my window.
Lifting point on the wing or maybe an attachment point for equipment.
Superwide view out the window.
A happy souvenir heading home from Vegas.
Starting our push back, another person hard at work early in the morning.
Another Southwest jet arrives as we push back.
The ground crew gets the carts ready to begin the rapid unloading of luggage.
We taxi past a plane parked on the ramp, presumably for service.
An arriving Southwest flight taxiing on runway 26L or 26R, which we will use.
A JetBlue flight departing on 26L or 26R.
Yet another Southwest plane, on taxiway B, north of runway 26R.
Number 1 for takeoff, turning onto the runway threshold. I think we are taking off from runway 26R.
Departing from Las Vegas on Southwest. Early morning, with still, clear air. Southwest Boeing 737
On the takeoff runup, passing the FAA control tower (left) and the ramp control tower (right).
Getting a nice look at the American plane probably on Taxiway C.
Rolling past the B and C gates, where we pushed back from.
Airborne! Over the west side of the airport. New York New York Casino nearby.
Passing south of the Mandalay Bay and Luxor Casinos.
Getting another view of the Mandalay Bay and the Delano Hotel.
Looking north towards the Stratosphere Casino. The T-Mobile Arena close by in the foreground.
Another view of the escape directions on the wing.
Clear morning light making the colors on the winglet quite vibrant.
Pleasing ripples in the reflections of the winglet.
Changing shadows as we bank to the left to start heading east.
A few clouds and their shadows showing up.
Superwide angle view of our climb out of Las Vegas valley.
Another view of the rippled reflections of the winglet.
Ivanpah Solar Power Facility with three mirror farms to generate steam.
Now we get to see the 3 solar fields, 392 megawatt capacity, just across the California border.
Colors deeper as we turn fully to the east.
