Breakfast room at CenterHotel Plaza has been renovated since last year. Looks great, good food!
A drizzly morning in Reykjavik. Dómkirkja Krists konungs, the Cathedral of Christ the King
Superwide view looking north from the balcony at the top of Centerhotel Plaza
Hallgrimskirkja, 500mm super telephoto view
Backing off to 300mm, Hallgrimskirkja
Harpa opera hall.
Another view of Harpa.
Some of the shipping docked near Harpa
Looking across the sound to some big farms on the Ring Road north of Reykjavik
Somebody is falling behind!
It is May 1, the Labour Day holiday in Iceland! Many stores are closed, and bikers are gathering.
The riders look pretty excited! The drizzle has stopped, so it should be a decent ride.
Lots of really great bikes! I only have my iPhone 6 with me on this walk.
I like this yellow bike. Looks fast!
We were originally booked in a hotel on this street, and it would have been hard to sleep in!
People coming down the hill, Hallgrimskirkja in the background.
Other people were excited about yellow bikes as well!
The blue bike gets some company.
Back at our hotel, a stage is being set up for bands. It will be a fun and noisy day!
Unfortunately, we have to head out to the airport. :( If we had one more day...
We are number one! Kinder egg men stuffed with Kinder eggs. We brought this one home with us.
We pick up a fair number of goodies at the Duty Free store at Keflavik
Other people were also liking the merchandise!
At our gate, going home to Denver!
A WOW Air plane across the hallway is also getting ready to depart.
Watching the people make the planes dance.
Getting into our seats for the 7+ hour flight back to Denver.
Flying the friendly skies of IcelandAir.
Plenty of reminders if I forget how to spell the name of the airline.
Taxiing away from the terminal at Keflavik.
Making the turn onto the taxiway, we get glimpses of Reykjanesbær, the town near the airport.
Taxiing along the north east edge of the airport to runway 29, for a westerly takeoff.
Woah! We catch sight of a C-5 Galaxy from the US Air Force parked near the end of runway 29.
Sure enough, it is a C-5! We are more comfortable on IcelandAir than we would be travelling USAF.
Takeoff!
Getting last glimpses of Iceland.
Over water now. Bless, Iceland!
