Húsavík harbor area, busy in the early afternoon
Driving on Rt 870 to the northernmost lighthouse in Iceland: Hraunhafnartangi
Lots of fishing debris on the stony beach
This is as far as I was willing to take the car. It has 4WD, but the ground clearance is too low.
Hraunhafnartangi about 1/2 mile away. We were running late, so didn't walk to it.
Black stone beach becomes the road.
Peggy finding a cross near the beach. A gravesite?
Plenty of driftwood, useful for fences
A few houses back to the south, across the shallow bay
Heading back to Rt 870...
Goodbye to Hraunhafnartangi!
Wait! There is a prize to be collected! This one was knocked off the road.
Modern Icelandic driftwood!
Someone has carefully anchored this boat to the shore.
Big skies up north

Quite a big barn, and I guess the roofing was repurposed.
Bottles left behind, along with their shadows in the setting sun

The road sign is for this house. We drove for about 3 kn before having to stop for more photos.
These buildings are part of the Ásmundarstaðir farm, I think
Concrete takes a beating in this weather
Pretty in a rustic style.
Wire works, especially if the nearest hardware store is hours away!
We spot some sheep near the road, on Rt 85, I think.
They didn't like us being so close to them, so the head ram withdrew to the beach.
And the rest of the flock followed, bounding over the streams.
Some good hang time!
Nailed that landing!

Two! Autofocused on the sea behind...
But nailed him on the landing!

Touchdown!
Four! Didn't get enough of a pan to keep him from blurring.
The acrobats pose for a curtain call!
Our room at Ytra Lón Hostel, cleverly made from two storage containers welded together. Very comfy!
We had plenty of space, and it was quiet and warm.
The kitchen had everything we needed: cooktop, micro, fridge, toaster. Pretty, neat, and organized!
Private bath, watch the step into the shower!
