A storm moved in overnight, with blowing snow. We were ready with heavy coats and studded snow tires
Can barely see across the fjord
Our comfortable, clean, well equipped room at FossHotel WestFjords. Recommended!
Staff was well trained, professional, helpful, and friendly. As good as any at Marriott or Hilton.
Always windy, with the flags in front flapping madly
Scenic backdrop for the hotel
At the Patreksfjörður harbor, looking back towards the town and hotel
This is where the gulls hang out
They appear to be eating seaweed or something vegetable
Standard gull in flight shot
Gull making a standard rate turn
Abandoned workshops at the harbor converted into play area for children
Imaginative paintings
Ahoy there, explorers!
This is where the kids play...
Lots of interesting things to work with and climb
A bit messy, but lots of stuff to build with
Even concrete has a hard time standing up to the weather.
Saving these for later...
One of the buildings needed more help staying together.
Shack is the word that comes to mind, but it didn't start out that way!
Excellent use of materials at hand!
Nice recycling shed
Smaller fishing boats
Wouldn't want to be out in a storm in this little boat
The game area and recycling center hours
More buildings repurposed for kids
With a mini forest and ship
Fun murals
Rather a nice place to play pirate
Options for open air dining inside
Rather less inspired wall art inside

Abandoned workshop

Bits of netting all around
The welder looks like the crane he is working on
Making a small adjustment

This is the boat getting the welding job.
Looking further seaward from the town
Stone ladybugs
Waiting for summer to begin in Iceland
Blowing snow...
Gnome and ladybug ornaments keep each other company
The church and school have matching roof colors. Very pleasing
Everyone seems excited to go to school
