Mirjam at Ytra Lón Hostel told us about these houses to the east.
Fishing gear in many of the rooms. Here is a massive float...
They must have brought it in through the window!
Small bedroom? Office?
Living room, light from cracks between the boards and bullet holes. 1.0 second exposure, handheld!
The bathroom. Fishing nets and floats.
Main hallway, with fold down bed.
Kitchen I believe, 1/10 second exposure. D800e sensor is amazing!
The back door. Stairs upwards.
Laundry? Pantry? Odd that the toilet bowl brush made it over here.
Upstairs, not in too bad shape! May need a bit more framing and a bit of drywall.
Bedroom facing to the west. Note absence of fishing gear.
Nice view of the Atlantic. Looks like somebody used shotgun slugs to try to improve the view.
Center bedroom. Quite a bit of rope here.
East bedroom, no fishing gear
There's our comfy, reliable Kia!
Heading back downstairs
Detached garage?
Wonderful trying to figure out what life was like here.
We think about visiting the other house nearby.
Skeletons of equipment and animals.
We didn't have time to spend at this house. Maybe hext time!
Maybe the hill gives some protection from the wind.
Peggy finds a nice float!
Beginning our drive to the EastFjords, we pass the farm's sign
Peggy checks what is in the crate. Mail? Messages?
Don't know!
We don't get very far before having to stop again. The pebbles make a clicking sound with the surf.
Not a gentle surf.
Rather a surprise that there is somebody else on the road! Only 480 people in the area (2008 data).
Looking to the west towards central Iceland
I didn't think to take any of these smooth stones back with us. Darn!
Peggy got some great photos, I hope!
