The first snowfall in Pittsburgh this winter
Awoke to find the cherry tree blanketed with snow
Very few birds in the tree with the snow
It gradually warmed and the snow started melting
The other garden plants were droppy but did fine
A bit later, the birds started to appear
The cherries collected drops of melted snow
Little prisms in the morning light
And it all came tumbling down.
Cherries for breakfast, yum!
